Alex Carter will play the father in ABC's two-hour father-son archaeology drama pilot, tentatively titled "Veritas," from Touchstone Television. He joins Ryan Merriman as son Nikko. Also cast on the project Thursday: Eric Balfour ("Six Feet Under"), as Calvin, a member of the exhibition team; Cobie Smulders as Juliette, Nikko's 20-something tutor; and APA-repped Arnold Vosloo ("The Mummy") as team member Vincent. Patrick Massett and John Zinman are writing-exec producing, while Bryan Spicer is director-exec producer and Craig Zadan and Neil Meron also are exec producing.
